Come join me for a tour of our two cozy fall living rooms.
It’s that time of year again and I am here for it. As much as I love summer, fall is my favorite. This year especially I am craving all things fall. I think it is a mix of everything going on in the world and getting that much closer to meeting our sweet baby.
Our house was also begging for a change. It always feels rejuvenating and somewhat therapeutic to switch out my decor for the season. The house feels so fresh and has the ability to lift our spirits. Especially since we have been spending more time home than ever.
Every year I come up with a design plan. This year I thought it would be fun to share my approach in case you are feeling in a bit of a rut. Come tour both of our cozy living rooms and I will share my tips along the way.
( If you are looking to shop these looks I have all the sources listed for each of the cozy living spaces, just find “shop this look” in the post)
My first tip is to pull out everything that you have from the previous year. You do not need to buy all new things. Once I have a good idea of what I have I typically buy a couple of new items that I am loving. I shared some of my favorite new finds in this post.
Next is to make a plan. This next tip is how I approach almost every season and makes it easy to reuse the home decor you already have. I never do the same combination of items from year to year. I rotate color schemes and groups of items to create fresh spaces with the home decor I already have.
This makes your spaces look brand new and gives new life to the decor you already own. It is my number one trick for making it look like I bought all new stuff but really just used what I had. Sprinkle a few new items in and you will feel like you have a whole new space.
For my living room this year I kept it neutral. Very different from last year. You can see what my fall living room looked like last year here.
Most of the new items I bought ended up in this space. This beautiful wheat harvest wreath is from TjMaxx. I love switching up this space between the windows with either art or a wreath and this one was perfect.
I also got these ceramic pumpkins new this year from Target. They are so pretty and come in three different sizes. For the rest of the space, I gathered up all my neutral textured pillow covers and throws. Added my favorite Thankful and Grateful pillows and it really pulled this fall space together.
Next up is the fireplace. This is my first fall with our new fireplace and it was so fun to decorate. Again all of these items I already owned. I used fall stems to create a garland look. Added some orange antique books and threw in a couple of white fabric pumpkins. Very simple and cozy.
If you are struggling to decorate your mantel with a TV above I have a whole post giving my best tips. See post here.

Next up is my den. I used the same design approach but used my decor items that had a little fall color. Although I love a neural space I equally enjoy adding some fall color especially burnt orange. It gives a nice color pop but is still more muted for my neutral loving heart.
I did a mix of velvet and ticking stripe pillows and chunky woven throw blankets making this space extra cozy. Threw in a mix of pumpkins because what is Fall without pumpkins?
On top of my vintage dresser, I added this Fall sign that I used in my living room last year. I love using larger pieces to make a statement and then styling decor around them. For this display, I added these chunky wood candle holders and the beautiful leaf garland.

My final touch was this wreath. I love having grapevine wreaths on hand. You can use them for any season by replacing the stems. This wreath only took a couple of minutes to put together by adding cotton stems that I already had on hand. I just tucked them into the vines and added a little butcher twine to hold up some of the larger sections.
I hope that you enjoyed this cozy fall living room tour and that it gave you ideas on how to decorate your home this season. It does not have to be expensive and you can reuse what you already own to create new looks every year.
I have a few more fall spaces coming up so be on the lookout for that. You can also see all my fall inspired post from previous years by clicking here. As always thank you for visiting!
