Tips for Choosing the Perfect Table Lamp
- When selecting a table lamp consider the size of your room. You do not want your lamp to look too small or too big in your space.
- When choosing the height of your table lamp ( including the shade) you want to make sure that the combined height of both the lamp and table is between 48 to 64 inches high. This is just a general guide. I’m not a hard and fast rule kind of designer 😉
- Another great way to determine what lamp height to use to base it on your eye level when sitting. For example, if you are placing a lamp on an end table next to a sofa you will want to make sure that when you sit down you are eye level with the bottom of the shade. This will make sure that the light is not shining directly into your eye.
- Your lampshade should never overlap the surface that it is on. Basically your lampshade should not be bigger than the table it sits on.
